Dewar's Caribbean Smooth is a blended Scotch whisky with an eight-year age statement, bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle. It is made from up to forty single malt and grain whiskies, each matured for at least eight years and then married together in oak casks.
The blend then spends about six months finishing in ex-Caribbean rum barrels. It was the first of Dewar's double-aged cask finishes.
The nose is malted grain, orchard fruit and a faint wisp of earthy smoke, with warm molasses from the rum casks. The palate offers apple, vanilla, brown sugar, caramel and tropical fruit, with toasted coconut, butterscotch and a late peppery spice. The finish is short to moderate, fruity, with banana and dark chocolate.
