Dewar's White Label 70 Proof 1950s (75cl, 35%)

This is Dewar's White Label in its 70 Proof form, a bottling from the 1950s. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 35% ABV, the strength that 70 Proof corresponds to. The nose is layered: yeast, old sherry, dry leaves and beeswax, with a faint farmyard peat, mineral touches, rustic caramel and green apples. On the palate it is unctuous, with clearer peat smoke, dry oak, white pepper and nuts. The caramel and honey sweetness is brief, giving way to tobacco and toasted malt. The finish is dry and spiced, of medium length. The pepper fades, leaving lingering smoke, charred lemon and a slight black coffee bitterness.
