Distillery 291 – Small Batch Colorado Bourbon Whiskey

This is a small batch bourbon from Distillery 291 in Denver, Colorado. It is made from a bourbon mash bill of corn, rye and malted barley and matured in new charred American oak barrels, with barrels selected from small batch runs. The nose is vanilla bean, caramelised sugar and toasted oak, with green apple, honeyed grain, light baking spice and a hint of citrus peel. On the palate, caramel and brown sugar lead, followed by toffee, nutmeg, cinnamon and dried fruit, with a peppery rye note over the sweet corn. The finish is moderately long, with spice, oak tannin and caramel sweetness.
