Doc Swinson's Exploratory Series Tawny Port Cask Finish

This is an American whiskey from Doc Swinson, a blend of two five-year-old whiskeys finished in ex-Tawny Port casks that previously held Tawny Ports in Portugal for many years. The mashbills are 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, and 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. The whiskey was aged in American white oak, minimum five years old, and finished in the ex-Tawny casks for four and seven months. It was one of three limited fortified wine finishes released for Summer 2022. It shows a rich amber colour. The nose offers wild red berries, drizzled caramel and rich nuttiness. Notes of dark chocolate, tart cherry, toffee, tannin, toasted oak and cranberry follow.
