Domaine Belleville Champ Ladoy 2020 Mercurey (75cl, 14.5%)

Domaine Belleville Champ Ladoy 2020 is a red Mercurey made entirely from Pinot Noir, at 14.5% abv. The grapes come from two parcels of 45-year-old vines in the Champ Ladoy lieu-dit, at the southern edge of the appellation, one facing north and the other east. They are picked at full ripeness on different dates, fermented in large upright wooden vats and aged for 12 months in 228-litre barrels, 30% of them new. The colour is ruby with purple glints. The nose offers blueberry and blackberry with a little vanilla and wood. The palate is fruity and immediate, then gains depth, ending round and elegant with velvety, delicate tannin and light spice.
