Rock Island Rum Cask Edition is a limited-edition blended malt Scotch whisky from Douglas Laing. It is made from single malts from Islay, Jura, Arran and Orkney, then given an additional maturation in Plantation rum casks from Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad. It is bottled at 46.8% in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration or added colouring.
The nose combines sea spray and delicate ashy smoke with salted caramel, charred pineapple, vanilla fudge and ripe stone fruit. The palate is rich and mouth-coating, with caramelised brown sugar, grilled banana, toasted oak and vanilla, balanced by gentle peat, citrus zest and subtle spice. The finish is long and warming, with candied ginger, cinder toffee and a delicate touch of smoke.
