Scallywag Noir is a limited-edition Speyside blended malt from Douglas Laing, bottled at 52.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It combines whiskies from Mortlach, Glenrothes and Macallan, finished mainly in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Jerez in southern Spain.
The Scallywag name comes from the Fox Terriers kept by the Douglas Laing family over the years, and the whisky is released in small batches.
The nose offers deep, velvety sweetness, dark fruits and warming spice. On the palate come dark chocolate, spiced oak and sherry-soaked raisins. The long finish brings molasses, ripe figs and black cherries.
