A 27-year-old Caperdonich single malt from Speyside, bottled by Duncan Taylor in its Octave Premium range at a cask strength of 56%. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The spirit was laid down in 1992 and matured in oak for over two decades before being finished in a smaller octave cask. It is bottled without chill-filtration. The distillery, in Rothes, closed in 2002.
The nose is dried fruits, polished oak and dark honey, with hints of tobacco and old leather. The palate brings sultanas, spiced orange, dark chocolate and roasted nuts, leading to a long, warming finish of sherry sweetness and gentle oak spice.
