Eagle Rare 10 Year Old is a straight bourbon made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle.
The spirit spends ten years in new charred American oak, well beyond the four year legal minimum. The recipe is corn, rye and malted barley, with a low proportion of rye, and the barrels are hand-selected at maturity.
The nose is vanilla, caramel and toasted oak with a lift of orange peel. The palate brings toffee, honey and cocoa, then cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and smooth, drying into leather, tobacco and gentle oak.
