Edouard Delaunay Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Epenotes 2018 comes from the southernmost part of the Beaune AOC, neighbouring Pommard Premier Cru Les Petites Epenots, on marl and limestone. Fermentation was spontaneous with the grapes' own yeasts and few pump-overs, followed by 13 months in classic 228-litre Burgundy barrels aged one to three years. Bottling took place after natural settling and without filtration. The wine has a bright ruby colour, a complex nose of redcurrant, raspberry, cherry and white pepper, and a palate that starts soft and rounded before developing darker, spicier notes. It finishes harmonious, pure and elegant.
