Elf Butterscotch is a flavoured bourbon whiskey from 28 Mile Distillery in Highwood, Illinois, sold in a 750ml bottle. It is built on a base of malted Midwestern grain bourbon and blended with butterscotch flavouring. At 33.33% ABV, it is bottled well below the 40% usual for American whiskeys.
The nose offers warm caramel and buttery toffee, with vanilla and soft oak behind. The palate is creamy butterscotch with brown sugar, vanilla and a little cinnamon spice. The finish is smooth, moderately sweet and fairly short, with a mild touch of oak.
