Elsburn Distillery Edition Batch 002 is a ten-year-old single malt from the Südharz in Germany, matured entirely in first-fill sherry casks from Jerez. It was bottled in 2024 at 48% in an edition of 1,000 bottles, with natural colour and without chill-filtration.
The sherry casks give a fruity, spiced character built on raisins, mandarin, baking spices, vanilla and caramel, with a light touch of smoke.
The nose offers warm vanilla pastry, juicy nectarine, dates and raisins, with cinnamon, allspice and aniseed coming later. On the palate, stewed fruit meets sweet vanilla, with toasted oak, orange marmalade and liquorice. The finish is medium in length, with ripe plums and pale oak spice.
