Elsburn Distillery Edition is a ten-year-old single malt from the Harz in Germany, bottled as Batch 003 in 2026 at 48% in an edition of 750 bottles. It matured entirely in first-fill European oak casks that previously held Oloroso or Pedro Ximenez sherry from Jerez, so this is a full sherry cask maturation rather than a finish.
The mash is 95% unpeated malt and 5% unpeated chocolate malt. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
On the nose, vanilla pastry and nectarines meet dates and raisins, with cinnamon, allspice and aniseed. The palate brings rich stewed fruit and sweet vanilla alongside orange marmalade, liquorice and cloves. The medium finish carries ripe plums and light oak spice.
