Enrico Toro Torella 72 Liqueur (75cl, 38%)

Torella 72 is a sweet Italian herbal liqueur from Enrico Toro of Tocco da Casauria in Abruzzo. It takes the family's Centerba 72, a 140-proof mountain-herb liqueur, and softens it with acacia honey, giving a 38% ABV liqueur in a 75cl bottle. The Toro family has macerated wild herbs from the Maiella and Morrone mountains since 1817. The 72 on the label marks 1972, when Enrico Toro and his father Roberto built the distillery that still makes it. The nose offers honey, pine resin and dried mountain herbs. The palate is full and rounded, with wild mint and oregano over a honeyed core. The finish is smooth and lingering, with cinnamon and sweet herbs.
