Fercullen 15 Year Old is an Irish single grain whiskey made from maize and malted barley. It is matured for 15 years in first-fill bourbon barrels, then part of the whiskey is finished in second-fill Madeira casks and married with the rest of the bourbon-matured spirit.
The Madeira finish adds dried fruit and spice. It is bottled at 41.5% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring.
The nose combines vanilla and fudge with honeyed almonds, dried apricots, mango and ginger. The palate recalls warm buttered popcorn alongside orange and lime marmalade and dry oak spice. The finish brings creamy vanilla fudge, candied orange and lime peel.
