Fercullen 21 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey (70cl)

Fercullen 21 Year Old is a single malt Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, the first release of 2022 from Powerscourt Distillery. Whisky director John Cashman and distiller and lead blender Paul Corbett created it together, inspired by the sherry cellars of Andalusia. The malt spent 21 years in bourbon barrels, and the blend is 70 per cent bourbon, 20 per cent oloroso and 10 per cent Pedro Ximénez casks. The sherry part first matured in bourbon, then spent two more years in European oak. The nose offers sweet melon, vanilla, pear and soft leather. The palate brings vanilla sweetness with dried fruit, dark chocolate with orange oil and split hazelnuts, and the finish is fudgy, with candied cherries, fruit cake and drying spice.
