Fercullen 21 Year Old Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

Fercullen 21 Year Old is an Irish single malt from The Powerscourt Distillery in County Wicklow, and the oldest expression the distillery has released. It is intended to return as an annual release, with the vintage year shown on the label. The whiskey marries 21-year-old malt matured in bourbon barrels with whiskey finished in Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The distillery team drew on the bodegas of Andalusia for the dark fruit character of the sherry. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The nose brings honeydew melon, lychee, vanilla fudge, pear drops and soft leather. On the palate come vanilla fudge with dried fruits, dark chocolate with orange oil, and cracked hazelnuts.
