Fercullen Single Malt Cask Strength 2024 is an Irish single malt from Powerscourt Distillery in County Wicklow, bottled at 56.6% in a 70cl bottle. It opens an annual series of cask strength releases.
The whiskey was made entirely at the distillery from local barley and Wicklow mountain water, triple distilled and matured in ex-bourbon casks on the Powerscourt Estate. It is non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
On the nose there is baked pastry glazed with brown sugar, stewed apple and rhubarb, with toffee and vanilla cream. The palate brings dulce de leche, shortbread with browned butter and poached pears. The finish is intense, with thick vanilla cream, crushed peppercorns, nutmeg and leather.
