Fercullen The Gate Estate Series 3 Amarone Finish (70cl, 46%)

Fercullen The Gate is the third release in the Estate Series from Powerscourt Distillery, which stands on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. It is a single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, limited to 7,400 bottles worldwide. The whisky spends time in ex-bourbon casks and Amarone wine casks, with an Amarone finish. It has added colour and is not chill-filtered. The nose brings summer fruits, strawberry, cherry, plum, lime, mint, apple and cut hay. On the palate there are vanilla, honey and summer fruits with biscuit, and the finish is long and fruity with a light woody spice.
