This is the second release of the Fettercairn 16 Years Old, a Highland single malt bottled at 46.4% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The focus is on the casks. The release brings together sherry-matured casks and casks finished with sherry, all from a small, family-run bodega in Jerez: first-fill Oloroso, refill Oloroso and first-fill aged Palo Cortado butts.
The nose combines dried tropical fruit with brown sugar, honey, sugared almonds and light oak. The palate is full and spicy, with milk chocolate, dry raisins, oak, vanilla and gentle roasted notes. The finish is long, with liquorice, pepper and oak spice.
