Fettercairn – Warehouse 2 Batch 4 (70cl, 48.8%)

A single malt from Fettercairn, released in 2022 as the fourth limited bottling in the Warehouse 2 Collection. Warehouse 2 is a dunnage warehouse at the distillery that holds some of its oldest casks alongside more experimental ones. The whisky was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2022 at 48.8%. It matured mostly in ex-bourbon casks, 74% first-fill and 20% second-fill, with the remaining 6% in recharred Hungarian oak casks that previously held German Pinot Noir. It is non-chill-filtered and naturally coloured. Stewed pears, rich vanilla and cracked black pepper lead the nose. The palate brings citrus peel, toasted nuts, passionfruit and melon, and the finish is sweet.
