A red wine from Primitivo grapes grown in San Marzano and Sava, in the central part of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP. The vineyards are planted at 5,000 vines per hectare on terra rossa soils, with a warm climate, few rain showers and large day-night temperature differences. Harvest normally takes place in the second week of September, fermentation is in stainless steel tanks, and after gentle pressing the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and 12 months in French and American oak barrels. It is bright ruby in colour, with a complex, fruit-rich nose of plum, ripe cherry and spicy tobacco. The palate is concentrated, with jammy fruit sweetness, mocha, English liquorice and a little vanilla, in a harmonious whole.
