Finvara King's Gambit Irish Whiskey (70cl, 43%)

King's Gambit is the first bottling from the Finvara brand, an Irish blend of grain whiskey with spirit from malted and unmalted barley. It is triple distilled and matured for several years in ex-bourbon and sherry casks before being bottled at 43%. Master distiller David F. Hynes and his team developed it at the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk. The name draws on the Irish legendary figure Finvara, and a chess motif runs through the design of the bottle. The nose offers red fruits, toffee and pine alongside orchard fruit and honey. On the palate come candied fruit, marzipan, winter spices and baked apple, followed by a warming finish of sandalwood.
