Fixin Vieilles Vignes Domaine Humbert 2018

A Fixin from Domaine Humbert Frères, from a 0.5 ha parcel bought in 2006 when the vines were already 50 years old. The vineyard lies on the southern slope of Fixin, with stony marl, heavy clay and limestone soils. After 3-6 days of cool skin maceration, fermentation takes place in open wooden vats, followed by ageing in 228 l barrels, 33% new, made from oak from Châtillonnais. The wine is bottled after natural racking and without filtration. It is surprisingly elegant and velvety, with harmony between strength, alcohol and fruit, and delicate fruit tones in both aroma and flavour.
