Flóki Double Wood Reserve is an Icelandic single malt from the Eimverk distillery, made entirely from Icelandic barley and aged for a minimum of three years. It is a single barrel bottling at 45% in a 50cl bottle.
The malted barley is smoked over burning sheep dung, an old Icelandic method that gives a different character from Scottish peat smoke. After distilling, the whisky is matured in two kinds of wood and finished in a birch cask, number 75.
The nose suggests seaweed, dried straw, citrus and resinous bark with light smoke. The palate has fresh lime, malty roasted barley, white pepper, ashy smoke and a savoury note like strong black tea. The finish is long, with gentle earthy smoke and malt.
