Francesco Intorcia Heritage Marsala Superiore Ambra Semisecco DOC Vintage 1994

This is a 1994 Marsala Superiore Ambra Semisecco from the Heritage range of Francesco Intorcia, a fortified wine from Sicily. It was left to mature for more than twenty years in oak casks. The colour is an intense amber-yellow. The nose is broad and enveloping, with apricots in spirit, candied citrus, dates, dried figs and toasted almonds, followed by vanilla, cinnamon, caramel and coffee. The palate is warm and sweet, pleasantly savoury and very long. It goes with baked sweets or dry pastries, and also works as a wine for sipping on its own.
