George Remus is a high-rye bourbon from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered and takes its name from the Prohibition-era bourbon baron.
The mashbill is 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, and that rye content gives the bourbon a spice-led character. It is made at the Ross & Squibb distillery, which is run by MGP Ingredients.
The nose offers vanilla and maple, cherry pie and aged oak, with rye spice and a faint note of leather. The palate starts with caramel and vanilla, then moves to cinnamon, nutmeg and building pepper, with an oily texture. The finish is medium to long, with rye spice, vanilla and dry oak.
