This is a 42-year-old Highland single malt from Glen Albyn, a distillery that closed in 1983. It was distilled in 1980 and bottled in 2023 by Gordon & MacPhail for its Dram Takers Collection, at 51.1% ABV.
The whisky matured in a single refill sherry puncheon, cask 2327, and the outturn was 77 bottles.
In the tasting notes, the nose has dark fruit, raisins and ripe orange alongside sherry spice, vanilla and old wood. The palate is full-bodied, with dried fruit, chocolate, sweet spices and oak. The finish is long, dry and spicy, with lingering fruit sweetness.
