This is a 21-year-old Highland single malt from Glen Garioch, distilled in 2003 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 19.103. It was matured in a single first-fill bourbon hogshead, which produced 241 bottles, each in a 70cl size.
The nose combines a farm shop café with an orangery: warm rubber boots, shaved fennel salad with rapeseed oil, coffee grounds and cola. On the palate come strawberry, melon, passion fruit and blackberry pie, with a touch of mace and custard topped with sugared almonds. Water adds raspberry, coconut and ginger, along with orange marmalade and coconut taffy.
