First fill sherry butt
This Glen Grant was distilled on 10 April 1948 and filled into first fill sherry butt 1365, where it matured for 74 years. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 15 December 2022 at a natural cask strength of 50.4%, without chill-filtration or added colour, for its Private Collection. The edition marks the coronation of King Charles III on 6 May 2023. The whisky was distilled in the year of the King's birth, and the bottling date falls exactly 74 years after his christening. The 281 hand-blown crystal decanters were filled from this single cask. The nose brings festive spice, warmed spiced berries, raisins, lemon peel, demerara sugar and beeswax polish. On the palate come red apple, bitter orange and milk chocolate, then gentle smoke and fresh mint. The finish is full, with grapefruit and aged oak.
