Glen Grant – 1952-2012 59 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Distillery Labels (70cl, 40%)

This is a 59-year-old Glen Grant, a Speyside single malt distilled in 1952 and bottled in 2012 by Gordon & MacPhail in its Distillery Labels series, in a 70cl bottle at 40%. It is a small batch vatted from four casks: a first-fill sherry butt, a first-fill sherry hogshead, a first-fill remade American hogshead and a refill sherry hogshead. All were filled in 1952. The whisky is especially pale and is described as concentrated in fruit character, developing layer upon layer of exotic, aromatic complexity.
