Glen Mhor – 1973/2023 49 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection #85026801 (70cl, 47.2%)

This is a 49 year old Highland single malt from Glen Mhor, a distillery that closed in 1983. It was distilled on 30 April 1973 and matured in a refill sherry hogshead until Gordon & MacPhail bottled it in January 2023 for their Private Collection, filling 170 bottles at 47.2% ABV. The nose combines ripe blackberries and dates with menthol, dark chocolate and old oak. On the palate there are toasted almonds, raspberry jam and black cherries, alongside leather and fine woody notes. The finish is long, with dried fruit, nutmeg and aged oak spice.
