A 40 year old single malt from Glen Mhor, distilled in 1982 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail on 2 March 2022 at a cask strength of 50.8%. It matured in a refill sherry hogshead and gave 174 bottles.
It comes from the Private Collection, in the opening release of the 2022 Recollection Series, which is devoted to whiskies from closed Scottish distilleries and chosen by members of the Urquhart family. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose shows a clear sherry influence with roasted hazelnuts, milk chocolate, sour cherries and toffee. The palate offers stewed fruit, pressed apple, demerara sugar, raspberry compote, white pepper and dried tobacco. The finish is full, with citrus and summer fruit.
