This Glen Ord was distilled in 1973 and bottled in 1997 at 23 years old and cask strength, 59.8% ABV, for the Rare Malts series. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
It is an old-style Highland malt with a waxy, mineral and herbaceous character, carrying salt, smoke, subtle peat and white stone fruits. There is some austerity to it, and it suits drinkers who like a wild, uncompromising whisky. With time and a little water it opens up to show a more aromatic complexity.
