Glen Scotia – Double Cask Rum Finish (46%)

This is a Campbeltown single malt from the Glen Scotia distillery, matured in bourbon casks and then finished in new Guyanese Demerara rum casks. It is bottled at 46%. The rum cask has a local precedent: Glen Scotia holds documents dating back to 1815, before the distillery was founded, showing that rum casks were already in the town and offered for sale. The nose brings sea air around brown sugar, roasted pineapple and cinnamon. On the palate, thick molasses sits alongside dried coconut, banana, vanilla, nutmeg and stone fruit, and the finish carries more maritime notes with aromatic spices.
