This is a 12-year-old single malt from the Glen Spey distillery in Rothes, Speyside, bottled at 43% ABV. It belongs to the Flora & Fauna series, which highlights lesser-known distilleries. Glen Spey was founded in 1878.
The nose is mild, with green plums and white grapes. With water it turns fresh and estery, with fresh pea pods, a hint of smoke from dying fires or charred wood, and a very faint medicinal note.
The palate is warming, with light sweetness and a touch of sourness. The finish is dry and of medium length, with chocolate and light coconut in the aftertaste.
