This is a 17 year old Glen Spey, distilled in 2007 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range as a UK exclusive. It comes from a single refill bourbon barrel, which gave 232 bottles at 55.5% ABV.
Glen Spey is a Speyside distillery in Rothes, much of whose output goes into blends.
The nose brings orange marmalade, honey, lemon zest, demerara sugar, red apple and a sweet floral edge. On the palate come tropical fruit, cocoa powder, passion fruit, mango and soft white pepper, with subtle charred oak. The finish is medium-bodied with lemon peel.
