This is Batch 13 of the GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength series, an unpeated Speyside single malt made at the GlenAllachie Distillery under Billy Walker.
The ten years of maturation took place in a mix of Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheons, Oloroso sherry puncheons, red wine casks and virgin oak barrels. It is bottled at 59.8% ABV, non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose brings dark cherries, sticky date pudding, roasted walnuts and espresso, with stem ginger and heather honey. The palate is thick and oily, with cocoa, plum jam and marzipan, then red berry tannins and cinnamon. The finish is long, warm and drying, with dark chocolate and orange oil.
