GlenAllachie 11 Year Old Palo Cortado is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, and the fourth release in the distillery's Sherry Series.
It was first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then given an extended secondary maturation in Palo Cortado sherry puncheons and hogsheads from Cadiz, Spain. It has natural colour and is non-chill filtered.
The nose combines cinnamon spice, butterscotch, damson plum, heather honey, raisin butter and crystallised ginger. The palate runs from toasted honeycomb and fresh brambles to baking spices, maraschino cherries, mocha, plum jam, treacle and chocolate. The finish is long, with mixed nuts and bittersweet dark chocolate.
