This Glenallachie is a 12 year old single cask single malt from Speyside, in a 70cl bottle. It was finished in a red wine hogshead and is bottled at cask strength, 60.6% ABV. The whisky has a rose-gold colour.
The wine cask adds richness and spice to the malt.
The nose offers glazed cherries, cinnamon, poached orchard fruits, honeycomb and molasses, with a touch of eucalyptus. On the palate come bramble jam, mocha, heather honey, candied apple, baking spice and black cherries. The finish is long and balanced, with fruit and spice lingering.
