This is a 13 year old single cask GlenAllachie matured in virgin oak, distilled in 2007 and bottled at 59.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Cask 6871 was limited to 272 bottles, all for the UK, and it is the fourth batch of UK-exclusive single casks from the distillery.
Billy Walker has been experimenting with different types of virgin oak, watching how the wood and spirit interact in the on-site warehouses. Here the character leans towards bourbon notes.
The colour is sunset bronze. The nose offers vanilla, plantain and apricot with orange peel, ginger and nutmeg. The palate brings layers of heather honey, treacle and figs, with orange zest, cinnamon and nutmeg.
