This is a 19 year old Speyside single malt from GlenAllachie, part of its Masters of Wood series. Master Distiller Billy Walker chose casks that had held sherry in a traditional solera system for over 55 years before being filled with GlenAllachie.
The ex-solera casks add rich dried fruit and warm spice. It is bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and with no colour added.
The nose offers brandied plum, mocha and honeycomb, with caramel snaps, molasses tart and cocoa. On the palate come plum syrup, treacle and warmed heather honey, then black cherries, mocha, brandied orchard fruits, crystallised cinnamon and ginger.
