This is a 31 year old GlenAllachie, distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2020 at a cask strength of 51.1% ABV. It is a single cask release, with 339 bottles filled from one oloroso sherry hogshead, each in a 70cl bottle.
It is one of the oldest releases in the third batch of GlenAllachie single casks. A hogshead is slightly smaller than a butt or puncheon, which gives the spirit more contact with the wood and tends to intensify the flavours. Oloroso sherry comes from the Jerez area of Andalusia in Spain and is often dark and nutty with a long finish.
