This is a 16-year-old Speyside single malt from Glenburgie, distilled in 2009 and bottled by Dram Mor at 56.7% ABV. It was matured in a single refill bourbon hogshead, which yielded 203 bottles, and is sold in a 70cl bottle.
At this age the whisky is described as taking on more of the so-called designer bourbon cask character.
The nose offers sweet caramel chews, then Victoria sponge with cream and apricot jam, with a hint of almond arriving late. The palate has a light caramel syrup, vanilla fudge and a touch of marzipan. The finish is fresh and tingling, with delicate white pepper.
