Glenfarclas – 105 Proof (1L, 60%)

Glenfarclas 105 is a Speyside single malt bottled by the distillery at 60% in a one-litre bottle. The 105 refers to the old British proof scale, where it matches this strength exactly. It has been a permanent bottling since 1968, and it is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Sherry casks shape the whisky, giving fruit, dark caramel, nuts, spice and oak, with a slight oiliness in the texture. A little water brings out more spice and chocolate. The nose combines strong oak, apple, ripe pear and dark toffee with cream pastry, citrus and fresh woodland notes. The palate is dry and firm, with baked orange, lemon meringue, chocolate malt, raisins, pepper and sherry. The finish is full and warming, recalling a spiced chocolate dessert.
