A single cask Glenfarclas from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2011 at 11 years old. It was matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel and yielded 211 bottles, labelled 1.159 and named Lively and Explosive.
This bottling uses the Society's oldest label format, in use from 1983 to 2006, and was released only in the USA, hence the 75cl bottle.
The nose is given as hard peaches, wood sap, nuts, quince, juniper, flint and green ginger. The palate is fizzy and lively, with ginger heat, Granny Smith apples, vanilla and mint humbugs.
