Glenfarclas – 11 Year Old 2015 for The Caskhound Single Cask 2121

This is an 11-year-old Glenfarclas bottled as single cask 2121 for The Caskhound, the German independent bottler founded by Tilo Schnabel. He chose the cask during a warehouse tasting at the distillery, comparing whiskies from several casks. The whisky matured entirely in a first-fill sherry butt. The bottle follows a design similar to the Family Casks range, though it is not part of that series. Schnabel picked it for the rich sherried character he values in those bottlings. The nose brings raisins, prunes, dates, dark cocoa and espresso, with cloves and cinnamon. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with rum-soaked fruit, black cherries and dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, growing drier towards the end.
