This is a 12 year old Glenfarclas from Speyside, distilled in 2012 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 1.291, named Picnic On the Sunny Banks Of The Spey. It comes in a 70cl bottle from a single first-fill ex-bourbon cask that yielded 186 bottles.
The nose is fruity, with green apple, limeade, fruit salad chews and jam, and lesser notes of birch twigs, nettles and rose. The palate stays sweet and fruity with citrus, kiwi and banana, then moves to marmalade, dried apricot and pear skins. The finish brings ginger snaps, almonds and oak.
