Glenfarclas – 12 Year Old (43%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Glenfarclas, matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 43%. The distillery was founded in 1836 and is still family owned, now run by the sixth generation of the Grant family. Its direct fired copper pot stills are among the largest in Speyside. The colour is deep golden honey. The nose is fresh and light, with sherried fruit, honey, spicy sweetness, sappy oak and pine resin. The palate is full and smooth, with sherried fruit, walnut cake and date, sometimes a touch of smoke and earth. The finish is long, with orange zest, cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
