Glenfarclas – 12 Year Old (43%)

This is a 12 year old Glenfarclas single malt bottled at 43%. It matured entirely in casks that previously held Oloroso sherry, a mix of first-fill and refill, which gives a balanced whisky rather than a heavy sherry style. Glenfarclas is a family-owned distillery, now in its sixth generation, and its sherry casks come from the bodega José y Miguel Martin in Huelva. The nose has peach and caramel with cloves, orange and a light touch of sherry. The palate is soft and round, with ginger, milk chocolate, pepper and toasted oak.
